Opting for a station wagon instead of a covered wagon, players must care for a group of five survivors as they cross American landmarks, scavenge for supplies and fight off the hordes of undead.
No, that isn't a typo in the title, Organ Trail: Director's Cut is a spoof on the classic America-trekking game set in a zombie-infected world. There is a more tangible sense that you're running somewhere, instead of simply running, which makes it all the more motivating to keep playing time after time. They also change more as you run deeper into the jungle, offering caves, swamplands and even a roller coaster-like minecart ride. The environments have a lot more to offer than Temple Run's endless path, with rolling hills, multi-layered jungle villages and steep cliff faces where the camera pans out for a more cinematic view.
Where Pitfall stands out is its atmosphere and sense of progression. There are also gems to collect along the way, which you can tilt the device to collect. In terms of control that assessment is pretty spot-on, as Pitfall copies the swipe control scheme to jump, slide and turn. It bears more than a passing resemblance to the popular mobile game Temple Run, which will likely cause many to write it off as a simple clone.
